The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike any he has ever experienced - in search of inner peace. But his retirement is disrupted by a gala killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extermination of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who surprises Thor - who uses his mysterious magic hammer, Mjolnir, as Mighty.
Thor. Together, they embark on a terrifying cosmic journey in order to unravel the mystery of God Butcher's vengeance and stop him before it gets too late. Directed by Waititi (“Thor: Ragnarok,” “Jojo Rabbit”) and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, “Thor: Love and Thunder” will open theaters on July 8, 2022.
Chris Hemsworth insists he is not leaving the
MCU, but the Thor: Love and Thunder trailer has a few moments that make it seem
like his last Marvel film. Arriving in the spring of 2019, Avengers: Endgame
has undoubtedly been the film that describes the MCU so far, marking a change
in the first six Avengers. Iron Man was killed, Captain America grew old and
retired, the Black Widow also died and Hawkeye was out of the game, leaving
only Thor and Hulk still active and available.
